Youth Platform for Peace Building

This project aims to enhance and activate the role of the Yemeni youth in the field of political participation and peace building in Yemen. It is a national youth platform consisting of 11 civil society organizations led by youth from different areas in Yemen. The first phase of the project during the year 2020 was to build the capacities of the partner institutions in the platform, and the most important trainings carried out were:

  • Intensive training in the areas of Participatory Action Research (PAR) and writing public policy papers by Issam Fares Institute in the American University of Beirut (AUB).
  • Training in the field of team management and building community change by Ahel Organization, Amman, Jordan.
  • Training on youth, security and peace issues by Search for Common Ground-SFCG.
  • Training on managing social media platforms and advocating for public affairs issues, implemented by FE-MALE Foundation, Beirut , Lebanon.
  • Training on conflict sensitivity during the implementation of peace building projects, implemented by (YCSP) Yemen Conflict Sensitivity Platform of SFCG.
  • Training in the field of gender and gender-based sensitivity during project implementation.
  • In addition, a number of webinars and cultural seminars related to youth, peace and security issues were also coordinated, in which a number of local and international experts from Yemen, Lebanon, Tunisia, South Africa, America and other countries were hosted.

As part of the platform’s activities to enhance the role of youth in political participation, especially the role of youth in participating in the first track of peace building and ending the conflict in the country, the platform worked on issuing a policy paper entitled “The Role of the UN Envoy in Youth Participation in the First Track of Peace building.” Its activities for the year 2021 include developing a strategic advocacy plan to advocate and communicate the recommendations concluded in the paper.
